Many people believe our island is located in the Carribean, but Bermuda is actually situated in the western North Atlantic Ocean, only 570 miles due east of Cape Hattaras, North Carolina. It is very easy, and quick, to get here by air or by sea.
The island is really an archipelago of 7 main, and about 150 smaller, islands and groups of rocks, clustered together in the shape of a fish hook and connected by bridges. This makes Bermuda about 24 miles long and, on average, less than one mile wide. The total land area is approximately 18 square miles.
